Memebox sale insanity haul

   Memebox had a flash summer sale last weekend and I managed to snag a few heavily discounted items from the chaos and scramble. It wasn't easy; the goal was to make $30 minimum so that I would qualify for free shipping, but every time I went to check out, half my cart would already be sold out! Finally made the cut off at $31 and checked out. A day later I get an email that one of the masks I purchased, a TonyMoly Red Wine sheet mask, was oversold and they needed to refund me the cost of the mask ($1), plus an extra $5 for an apology. Didn't bother me any, it made my grand total $25 and I still got free shipping. All of these products are completely new to me except for the Innisfree cream, as I had a sample of it previously that I enjoyed.

I have a chronic illness or two, this is how it all started.

You never think when you wake up that this might be your last day feeling "normal". When being sick becomes the new normal, when doctors diagnose and re-diagnose you, and some have to google your diagnosis because they've never heard of it before.

Some illnesses are slow building, and you can look back and see the evidence of it coming on for years prior. Narcolepsy was like that with me. I was the sleepy one, the lazy one, the one taking all the naps.  It was all I could do to not nod-off while sitting up in High School (even though I adored school) and in university I scheduled my classes so that I could take naps in between them. Lunch breaks at work were always a battle between my hunger and my exhaustion, where usually the exhaustion won out.

I thought this was how everyone felt, and I was just not strong enough to fight off the need for sleep. I thought that every morning when people woke up, everyone felt as un-rested and drained as I do. Everyone said I was lazy, so I just figured maybe I was. Sadly, these were the good days. Around August of 2012, it got worse.

Innisfree Eco Safety Perfect Waterproof Sunblock SPF50+ PA+++ Review

   My quest for the perfect waterproof sunscreen for horseback riding has come to an end. When I purchased the Innisfree Extreme Safety 60 sun gel that I reviewed previously, I received a free deluxe sample of the Innisfree Eco Safety Perfect Waterproof Sunblock SPF50+ PA+++, that I promptly cast aside and ignored.

   That is until another Asian Beauty loving equestrian pointed out the sunblock on Innisfree's website and I told her that I'd try my sample and tell her if it was good for barn work. Basically we wanted a sunscreen that was very sweat resistant that dried matte/non-sticky so horse fur and barn dust wouldn't stick to our faces. Innisfree delivered.

July 2015 Mishibox

   So I signed up for Mishibox in a drunken internet-fest one night. Not that I regret it, really, I just needed to be drunk to convince myself to take the final step and actually go for a subscription box. Its a weird thing to have anxiety about, the simple act of getting a cancel-at-any-time subscription to skincare/makeup/whatever, but for me taking that first plunge was kinda like going on a date for the first time.

Internal Monologue: "Is this the right thing to do? Maybe I should wait it out, get to know the box a little better (Mishibox is a new box, could go any direction), and save myself the pain of rejection lost money of getting a subscription that I really didn't like."

   Sometimes I really overthink things, guys.

But I did it. I signed up for my first subscription box and it is the little newcomer Korean beauty box called Mishibox. My first box shipped on July 21st as promised and arrived in my mailbox on July 23rd.

    A young girl getting her first bra is commonly understood as a sort of Rite of Passage in America. Posh mommies may take their blossoming daughter to a department store for her first soft cup, cool and stylish mothers hit up Victoria's Secret for their smallest (and least sexy) push up, and the rest of us tend to find ourselves selecting something practical from Target or Walmart that we secretly hope to not get much wear out of before we have to size up.

   I would like to propose a second lingerie Rite of Passage: when a woman finally learns about bra fit and learns her real bra size.  Somewhere around 80% of women in America are wearing the wrong bra size. It really isn't a surprise when you consider how warped clothing sizes tend to be, but at least bra sizing is fairly well standardized within countries with a few brands having their own weird exceptions. Are we just a country of ladies who don't understand how to properly use a tape measure? Not at all, but we are a country of women being pandered to by a company focused on squishing us into a narrow range of bra sizes. No, Victoria's Secret isn't entirely to blame.  I could wax poetic for hours on here about how society messes with women's view of their own bodies, but if you wanted to read that you'd be reading a sociological journal and not a blog. So VS's warped business tactics are a great (and reasonably short) thing to talk about.

Review: Innisfree Extreme Safety 60 sun gel SPF50+ PA+++

    I am on a quest to find the perfect sweat-resistant sunscreen for horseback riding, barn work, and for generic summertime sweating.  Innisfree Extreme Safety 60 sun gel SPF50+ PA+++ is my first Korean sunscreen and second non-American sunscreen (I have Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence that is, sadly, not sweat-resistant). I've worn it for about a week or so now, and while that wouldn't be enough to test the whitening/healing/etc of a product, I feel it is long enough to get a good feeling of the pros and cons of a sunscreen.

 Innisfree's website has three claims for this sunscreen:

1.  Waterproof without any white cast. This is a white cast-free waterproof sun gel that can withstand water and sweat, which makes it perfect for use in water. 
2. Feels as moist as a moisturizing essence. This is a water-based sun gel with green tea and aloe extracts, providing rich moisture. 
3.  Contains sunflower oil. Sunflower oil maintains healthy skin that may otherwise be prone to damage from the sun
